Agrate (Monza), May 21, 2025 – “No” to the industrial plan . This morning, about 800 workers gathered in front of the gates of St Microelectronics in Agrate Brianza , gave a “clear and strong” response to the company.

“We do not accept this industrial plan” - reiterated the general secretary of the Fiom-Cgil of Brianza Pietro Occhiuto, underlining that “today’s mobilization demonstrates that the factory is compact and united and that the workers do not intend to passively assist in a process that aims to downsize and empty a historic, strategic and highly productive site like that of Agrate”.

“We have reiterated it in all institutional settings and now we are shouting it out from the factory too ,” he added, “this industrial plan is unacceptable, it does not protect employment, it does not guarantee a long-term vision and it does not enhance existing skills.”

According to the unionist, “it is a project that must be blocked, rewritten and discussed publicly ”. “As Fiom - adds Occhiuto - we ask the government and the company to fully assume their responsibilities. We need courageous choices, we need innovation, we need a plan that truly invests in Agrate. And until there is a different proposal, we will continue to mobilize with even more force”. “Today - concludes the secretary of the Fiom of Brianza - was not just a strike, it was a signal. Those who think they can go ahead without listening to those who work, from today know that they will find a wall of dignity, conscience and struggle”.
